Most people have experienced sore throat on one side and it is really irritating.
So many people in the United States have suffered a sore throat at
one point in their lives. Sore throat on one side of the throat can
also be irritating but you will just suffer the same symptoms like all
the other patients.
Sore throat on one side will affect both adults and children but
children tend to suffer from sore throats more than the rest of the
people. You are likely to suffer a sore throat during winter, as this
period is very cold. Sore throat causing bacteria tend to be more
active during this time.
A sore throat is just a very painful swelling of the pharynx. The
pharynx is part of the throat and it lies in between the voice box and
the mouth. Having a sore throat could be a symptom of other underlying
infections like glandular fever, tonsillitis, flu and colds,
respiratory tract infections and even chickenpox. You can have a sore
throat on one side of the throat and it will disappear or it can
develop into some serious health conditions.
Sore throat on one side just like any throat infection is usually
caused be different things that can always be dealt with. Some of the
causes may include bacterial, viral or non-infectious factors.
Mostly sore throat on one side may be as a result of non-infectious
causes. These can be allergies or just some environmental
irritation. Mostly you will experience some pain on one side of the
throat and ear or even the nerves surrounding the throat.
Allergies may not be contagious and can be caused by pollen grains,
molds and pet dander. Dog and cat danders are famous for causing sore
throats especially for those people who have are already
allergic. House dust can also contribute to this condition.
Irritations can also be a cause a sore throat. So many things in
the environment can irritate the voice box. Such irritants may include
dry air, polluted air, cigarette smoke and chemical fumes. Mild sore
throat can keep recurring during cold weather due to dry heat.
The signs and symptoms of any kind of a sore throat cut
across. They include reddened throat, coated tonsils, pain when
coughing, pain on the affected area of the throat, swollen glands
around the neck, difficulty in swallowing and when talking and general
fever.
The symptoms may be milder, but all the same, they must be treated
to avoid any further infection and other medical complications.
